A Depth of Experience
I have spent 30 years in business managing businesses from a sales and marketing, financial, and leadership perspective. I have experienced the business cycles of growth and recession, the highs and lows of management buyouts, acquisitions, and disposals. I understand what it takes to be resilient, and enjoy the journey.
A Voice for Business
Throughout my career, I have championed UK Manufacturing and the North East. We are a country and region with a rich history of being highly innovative and we need to build on this to have a successful future. I now share my passion by helping others and showcasing the best of what we do.
An Unexpected Adventurer
I started my life as an adventurer at 57, rowing the Atlantic Ocean in the 2019 Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge with Team Tyne Innovation. In 2023 I completed my second 3,000 mile row across the Atlantic with Team Emotive. It is never too late to try something new, taking risks is not something to be scared of, enjoy the ride.
Always Trying Something a Little Different
It is always nice to try something new. Whilst I have rowed on rivers and oceans here I am training for the British Coastal Rowing Championships in Dorset. Change is as good as a rest!
Raising Money for Charity
Doing something for the local community is always a good thing. In 2019 my row across the Atlantic raised over £40k for 3 charities. In 2020 I rowed, slept, and ate in my garage, 24/7 for 14 days, raising £3k for charities that help the NHS in the community. #RowinaGarage In 2023 I completed my second row across the Atlantic helping to raise over £40k for Veterans at Ease.
Engaging with the Media
With my recent adventures on the ocean I have developed my social media skills and as a guest speaker, and been supported on my journey by the BBC, ITV, and local written media.
Launching the Adventures Drinks Company
In 2022 I launched the Adventurers Drinks Company developing and marketing drinks inspired by modern day adventurers. To date I have launched 5 drinks with 2 more in the pipeline.
